About Specialized Security

Specialized Security have been at the forefront of UK event security of over three decades. With an expert management team, Specialized Security supplies crowd management stewards, security and consultancy services to a large and diverse range of festivals and outdoor events throughout the UK.

Our Story

Specialized Security began life working the doors across Edinburgh and Livingston back in 1986.

In 1990, the company founder Cameron Campbell along with his colleague George Crawford attended Glastonbury Festival as Personal Security for Deacon Blue. The following year, they were invited back with eighteen staff to cover the Pyramid Stage Barrier. The organisation took the opportunity to move into the festival security and crowd management sector – with Melvin Benn from Festival Republic offering a similar role covering the Main Stage at Reading Festival in 1992. This was also the first year that our current Chief Executive, Kara Williamson worked at her first festival for the company.

Both Glastonbury and Reading remain the backbone of our events calendar, with over 1,000 staff members on site as part of our security and stewarding deployment each summer.
